Sharon Twitty

Sharon Twitty has more than twenty-five years of experience in K-12 education. She started her career as a classroom teacher was recruited to be a resource teacher, mentor teacher and special projects at the district level. She went on to become an administrator, serving at the school, district, and county levels. She has led several statewide initiatives for California including serving on state and federal educational advisory committees. Sharon has a record of improving student achievement through sustainable collaboration, as demonstrated by the effectiveness and has been recognized as Administrator of the Year and has been published in ASCD’s publication Educational Leadership.

Dr. Robyn Fisher

Robyn Fisher is the President and CEO of R.T.Fisher Educational Enterprises, Inc.® (RTF®), an educational and public outreach consulting firm with expertise in designing, implementing, and evaluating academic development programs; planning and facilitating educational meetings and conferences; writing and implementing grant proposals; and developing professional learning courses. Founded in 1999, RTF has earned a reputation as a community resource whose work moves beyond the achievement gap rhetoric and identifies, through critical discussion and interaction, working definitions and tangible applications of culturally and linguistically responsive, relevant, and rigorous curriculum. Prior to founding RTF, Dr. Fisher served as the Director of the California Student Opportunity Access Program at San Jose State University. Dr. Fisher has served as a consultant on many federal, state and local educational programs including Upward Bound, the Ronald McNair Scholars Program, the University of California System, the California State University System, California GEAR UP, ARCHES I3SLOPE and ACCESS, and the 21st Century Community Learning Centers. She is the co-founder and Board Chair of the Choose College Educational Foundation, Inc.® (CCEF®) and the African American Regional Educational Alliances, Inc.® (AAREA®).

Dr. Ivan Cheng, California State University, Northridge

The Coaching Developer, Ivan Cheng, is Associate Professor of Secondary Education at CSU Northridge. He has been the Principal Investigator of the SITTE Project, was also co-PI of the NSF Noyce Scholars Teaching Fellowship Program, the PI of ARCHES (Alliance for Regional Collaboration to Heighten Educational Success) Planning and Implementation Grant, and was a Steering Committee Member of the Carnegie Foundation funded Teachers for a New Era. A former classroom teacher with National Board certification, Dr. Cheng has presented at numerous conferences and provides training for in-service and pre-service teachers. He has three mathematics degrees from UCLA two of which are specifically mathematics education.

Dr. Bruce Arnold

Bruce is the Director of the California Mathematics Diagnostic Testing Project (MDTP). MDTP develops, distributes, scores, and helps teachers interpret diagnostic mathematics readiness tests for courses ranging from Prealgebra through AP Calculus. As part of the California Academic Partnership Program (CAPP), MDTP’s goal is to assist math teachers in improving their instruction so that more students can successfully complete their a-g requirements and attend a CSU or UC campus. Bruce is also the MDTP Site Director for San Diego, Imperial, and southern Riverside counties where he serves local secondary mathematics teachers and coordinates an annual user conference that brings together university, college, and secondary math educators to discuss important issues in mathematics education.

Bruce also serves as the Director of the Mathematics Testing and Placement Office at UCSD, where he is responsible for placing incoming freshmen into their initial mathematics courses. Approximately 80% of UCSD students enroll in majors that require calculus, and nearly all of these students enroll in a math course their first quarter. He also evaluates multiple placement measures annually for effectiveness and recommends changes to these placement criteria to improve math placements.

Bruce has been active in local mathematics organizations, including serving as the Greater San Diego Mathematics Council President from 2009-2011 and currently serving on the CMC-South Common Core Circles committee and the CAMTE Nominations and Elections committee. He has taught Precalculus and Calculus courses at UCSD from 2003-2010 and has previously taught math courses from Basic Math through AP Calculus at Torrey Pines High School in San Diego from 1994-2003.

Enchantee Minor

Enchantee has been working in the field of education for the last 18 years. With experiences as a Bilingual Teacher’s Assistant, self-contained Elementary Teacher, High-School Math Teacher, Adult Education Professor, Collaborative Coach, and Professional Development Facilitator.

Enchantee has worked for many school districts, including Los Angeles Unified, Pasadena Unified, the Antelope Valley’s Westside Union School District, and currently William S. Hart Unified. She currently works as a Small Group Instructor within Opportunities for Learning Charter Schools. Her passion is for students who have not been successful in traditional classrooms and her goal is to empower students and teachers alike, so that every math classroom can become a place where authentic learning occurs.

Enchantee works with California State University, Northridge’s, Center for Teaching and Learning where she facilitates professional development for math teachers. Vertical articulation is a focus of much of her work, as she helps teachers to understand the scope and sequence of the mathematics they present to their students.

Enchantee has participated with the ACCESS team as a classroom instructor, content collaborator, and now as a professional development creator and facilitator.

Ann Trescott

Ann Trescott is the State Outreach and Support Coordinator for the Mathematics Diagnostic Testing Project (MDTP). In this role Ann oversees, coordinates, and facilitates the promotion of appropriate and effective uses of MDTP materials used in secondary mathematics and post-secondary programs. The State Coordinator designs, implements, and evaluates training and assistance programs for outreach to the MDTP Site Directors throughout the state. She also serves as the MDTP Site Director for San Diego, Imperial, and southern Riverside counties.

As a veteran educator with experience in kindergarten through college level, Ann has included in her personal learning goals the understanding, implementation and research of the ways mathematics is taught and learned. Her focus specifically has been on using assessment to better meet the needs of students and equity access toward college. Ann does this work not only as a member of the MDTP Workgroup and member of the State MDTP Director’s Office, but also at the national level as a member of the National Assessment of Educational Progress Mathematics Standing Committee, and as a statewide math instructional coach. Ann further incorporates her passions in her teaching of pre-service and in-service teachers as an adjunct education professor at the University of San Diego.

Ann holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematical Sciences from California State University San Marcos and a Master’s of Education degree in Mathematics, Science and Technology with a focus on mathematics professional learning communities from the University of San Diego. She is currently enrolled in a doctorate program with a focus in teaching, learning and leadership specific to equitable mathematics access to college.

Chris Dell

Chris Dell, MS Mathematics Education, has more than 18 years in education and is currently the Director of STEM Education through the Shasta County Office of Education. His work within Shasta County offers him many opportunities to work directly with all district superintendents, district-level administrators, site-based principals, teachers, staff, institutions of higher education, parents, and business/community partners in the area of STEM education, connections to career, curriculum and instructional practices.

He currently serves as the Northstate Secondary STEM Partnership (NSSP) project director. Mr. Dell has extensive experience as a CaMSP Director when he effectively managed partner collaboration, leadership teams meetings, program compliance, assessment and evaluation, and effective communication with the CA Department of Education project monitor for the Shasta County Mathematics Partnership (SCMP) and the Shasta-Trinity-Siskiyou Counties Mathematics Partnership2 (SCMP2) projects. He is also currently the Region 2 lead for of the Curriculum & Instruction Steering Committee (CISC) Mathematics committee; CISC a branch of the CA County Superintendents Educational Services Association (CCSESA) that serves the 58 counties across California.

Chris also serves on the board of directors for the SMART Business Resource Center for Shasta and Trinity Counties. He has previously served as the trustee in Region 2 for the CA League of Schools and has actively served in a variety of roles for the CA Mathematics Council. Prior to his work at Shasta County Office of Education, Chris attained experience as a high school math teacher, instructional content coach and district math department chairperson with the Santa Ana High School District in Santa Ana, CA and the Shasta Union High School District in Redding, CA.
